Welcome to PickCup ("we," "our," or "us"). PickCup is developed by Janiv Ratson, an independent developer based in Israel. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your information when you use our free social sports-guessing application (the "App").
PickCup is not a gambling, wagering, or betting service. It is a free-to-play social guessing game. No real money is wagered, no entry fees are charged, and no prizes of real-world monetary value are awarded. The App contains no real-money transactions of any kind.
The data controller responsible for your personal data is Janiv Ratson (operating as PickCup), contactable at support@pickcup.co. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) and have concerns about our data practices, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
When you sign in via a third-party provider (Google, Microsoft, or Apple), we receive basic profile information — typically your name, email address, and profile photo. We do not receive or store your password. The specific data shared depends on the permissions you grant to the authentication provider.
We store data you generate inside the App, including your match predictions, squad (group) memberships, leaderboard scores, and points balance.
We may collect technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version, language preference, time zone, crash/error logs, and anonymous usage analytics. This data helps us maintain and improve the App.
We do not collect financial information, payment details, precise geolocation, health data, contacts, or any information related to real-money gambling activity — because no such activity exists within PickCup. We do not collect data from your device's camera, microphone, or photo library.
If you are located in the EEA, we process your data on the following legal bases:
Contract performance — processing your account data and app activity is necessary to provide you with the service you signed up for. Legitimate interest — device and usage data is processed to maintain security, fix bugs, and improve the App. Consent — where required by law, we will obtain your consent before sending marketing communications or using optional analytics. You may withdraw consent at any time.
We use your data solely to:
Operate the PickCup platform and authenticate your identity; manage leaderboards, squads, and point tallies; send you service-related notifications (e.g., new rounds, squad invites); analyse aggregated, anonymised usage trends to improve the App; comply with applicable legal obligations; and provide customer support.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We do not share personal data for advertising or marketing purposes. The App contains no third-party advertising and no ad-tracking SDKs.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), grants you additional rights. For the purposes of California law: we do not "sell" or "share" your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA; we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted under California law; and we do not engage in cross-context behavioural advertising. You have the right to request access to, deletion of, or correction of your personal information by contacting us at support@pickcup.co. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
The App integrates the following categories of third-party services. We share only the minimum data necessary for each service to function:
Authentication providers — We offer direct email registration as well as secure third-party login via Google Sign-In, Microsoft Identity, and Apple Sign In. For direct email registrations, your password is securely hashed and encrypted before storage; we cannot see your plaintext password. If you use a third-party provider, we receive only the profile data described in Section 3.1. Analytics & diagnostics — We rely on standard, anonymised platform diagnostics provided by our hosting partners (Vercel and Render) to monitor app performance, usage statistics, and crash logs. No personally identifiable information is used for analytics purposes. Hosting & infrastructure — Our frontend application is hosted on Vercel, our backend APIs are powered by Render, and our database is securely managed by Supabase.
Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We do not permit any third-party service to use your data for their own advertising or marketing purposes.
The App does not use traditional browser cookies for tracking or advertising. We may use local storage or session tokens solely to keep you signed in and to store your app preferences on your device. These tokens are not shared with third parties and contain no personally identifiable information beyond your session identifier. You may clear local storage at any time through your device or browser settings, though doing so may require you to sign in again.
PickCup is a global service. Your data may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than your country of residence. Where we transfer data outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, or the recipient country's adequacy decision, to ensure your data remains protected. You may request a copy of the relevant safeguards by contacting us at support@pickcup.co.
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter (no longer than 12 months) to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Activity data such as predictions and scores are retained for the duration of your account. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to or restrict processing; request data portability; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@pickcup.co. We will respond within 30 days (or the period required by applicable law). We will not charge a fee for processing reasonable requests.
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by navigating to Profile → Settings → Delete Account within the App, or by emailing support@pickcup.co. Upon deletion, your personal data will be permanently removed from our active databases within 30 days. Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged according to our backup rotation schedule (no longer than 90 days).
PickCup is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at support@pickcup.co.
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including: encryption of data in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher; encryption of data at rest in our databases; role-based access controls limiting employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis; regular security reviews and dependency audits; and secure authentication via OAuth 2.0 through trusted identity providers. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notice or email before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal data, please contact us at:
